Cashmere Care Guide

A little care for lasting softness.

Your Avelorie scarf is made from fine, lightweight cashmere. A little thoughtful care helps preserve its softness, delicate texture, and beautiful drape.

Refresh Between Wears

Cashmere doesn’t need washing after every wear. Let your scarf rest between uses and air it in a shaded, well-ventilated space, away from direct sunlight.

Wash Gently

Always follow the care label on your scarf. If it specifies dry cleaning only, use a professional cleaner experienced with fine cashmere.

If hand washing is permitted:

  • Use cold water and a small amount of detergent formulated for wool or cashmere.

  • Wash separately, gently moving the scarf through the water.

  • Avoid rubbing, scrubbing, stretching, or prolonged soaking.

  • Rinse gently with water at the same temperature.

  • Never wring or twist. Do not bleach.

For our delicate ombré shades, avoid leaving the scarf wet and folded together.

Dry Flat

Support the scarf fully when lifting it from the water. Gently press out excess water, then lay it on a clean towel and roll loosely to absorb moisture.

Reshape carefully and lay flat on a fresh, dry towel, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not hang while wet or tumble dry.

Smooth with Care

Light creases often soften after the scarf has rested unfolded.

If the care label permits steaming, use gentle steam at a distance without touching the fabric. Test a small, hidden area first and allow the scarf to dry fully before folding. Avoid pressing delicate edges or stretching the fabric.

Protect the Fine Weave

Our airy cashmere is delicate. Take care around rings, bracelets, zippers, rough bag straps, and other surfaces that may catch the fine threads.

If a snag occurs, do not pull or cut it. A professional textile repair specialist can advise on the best way to repair it.

Minimize Pilling

Some pilling can occur where natural fibers experience friction. Reduce repeated rubbing against bags, outerwear, or jewelry.

Because our scarves are exceptionally lightweight, avoid electric fabric shavers and vigorous brushing or combing. If pills develop, seek advice from a cashmere care specialist before removing them.

Store Thoughtfully

Store your scarf clean, completely dry, and loosely folded in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging it for long periods, which may stretch the fabric.

Use the included pouch to keep it neatly organized. For longer storage, place it in a clean, securely closed container and check it periodically. The pouch and gift box alone do not provide moth protection.
